On October 10th, KPA took time to celebrate community partners, volunteers and interns at our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. We are grateful for all of the volunteers who contribute their time and talent to help us accomplish our mission to help better our community.
As a part of the celebration, KPA also took the opportunity to reflect on the value and importance of volunteerism. It is important for volunteers to understand the larger context of their actions--not just what they're doing, but why they're doing it.
Chan Hopson, Executive Director of KPA hopes to create a meaningful appreciation culture to lift up our volunteer's spirit in a way they feel that they have accomplished something valuable for the community. She also hopes to encourage more inter-generational volunteerism, too.
Our young volunteers participated in group activities where they were able to share their thoughts and experiences through volunteerism.
"You're learning to set the example, you learn to be a role model. With that being said, you're teaching other people to become leaders at the same time," said Daniel Tran, Class of 2015 KPA Scholarship recipient and long term volunteer.
As volunteers continue to be the backbone for our organization, KPA wanted to express our gratitude for their dedication and commitment in joining our efforts to make a difference.
